Deo Veritas collars feature a four piece assembly which guarantees a secure, durable construction. Collar points lie flat and will not 'pucker' outwards. Topstitching is located approximately 1/8" from the edge of the collar. Shirts come with the option of removable or sewn collar stays. From classics to contemporary, Deo Veritas offers 11 different collar styles. In addition, each is available with the option of fused or unfused (sewn) interlinings.
SLEEVE PLACKET
The sleeve placket extends from the top of the cuff up the sleeve length. The rationale behind the sleeve placket is that it makes for a better fit around the forearm and it allows the sleeves to be more easily rolled up. Each placket piece is positioned precisely (evident on stripe / check patterns), resulting in a seamless pattern.
BUTTONS
Deo Veritas offers high quality Plastic Resin as well as Mother of Pearl buttons (as shown) with upwards of 144 stitches per button hole. Each button is cross-stitched into the shirt to ensure that they are secure and firm. Each shirt also comes standard with three spare buttons affixed to the backside of the bottom front placket.
CUFFS
The main distinctions between cuffs are whether they require buttons or cufflinks to fasten, and whether they are folded back (French) or single. Deo Veritas currently offers 8 different cuff styles that fit every style preference. Barrel cuffs are the standard, coming in a variety of styles. The standard style is fastened by one or two buttons (on occasion three), according to taste. Fold back cuffs, such as French cuffs, tend to be worn more formally. They are twice as long as standard cuffs and then folded back, secured with cufflinks. For the more daring, cocktail cuffs (commonly referred to as James Bond cuffs) have a similar fold back as the French cuff, but are secured with buttons rather than cuff links.
STITCHING
All Deo Veritas shirts feature single needle stitching. A traditional and timely process, that produces stylish and durable seams (minimum of 16 stitches per inch throughout). This type of stitching ensures a shirt's longevity.
INTERLINING
The fabric placed between the two layers of the actual shirt cloth at the cuffs, placket, and collar – giving additional strength to those areas. Interlinings can be either be fused (glued) or unfused (sewn) - both of which we offer. Neither is the wrong choice, but you should be aware of the differences associated with each. Fused interlinings are heated and glued together, a popular choice among off the rack shirts. Fused interlinings themselves are more rigid and stiff, maintaining a formal crispness. Sewn (non-fused) collars are softer in feel and are held together by stitching rather than glue. This is the traditional method that is seen mostly on made to measure / bespoke shirts. Sewn interlinings have a timeless look and feel and also tend to last longer than those that are fused.
YOKE
The yoke is a fabric on the upper back of the dress shirt, supporting the strain of the shoulders and upper back. Most off the rack shirts use a single piece of fabric, called a one piece yoke. A split yoke (seen more on tailored shirts) consists of two fabric panels that are secured and sewn down the middle. It also ensures a tailored fit across the slope of the shoulders. All Deo Veritas come with a split yoke standard.
GUSSETS
Shirt gussets are found along the bottom of the shirt. They look like small triangles and help adjoin the front and back of the shirttails to reinforce the construction. A stylish look that is found almost exclusively on higher end shirts.

Fit alone is not enough
Great shirting cannot exist without great fabric. As such, we scour the globe searching for materials that are timeless, unique and slightly ahead of the fashion curve.
Thread count, breaking resistance, warp and weft threads ... we're well versed in all technical terms shirting and are constantly hunting for materials that look and feel amazing. We currently offer over 180 fabrics from known shirting mills as well as number of performance blends that use sustainable materials such as Bamboo - all in a variety of weaves (Poplins, Oxfords, Twills, Chambray)
These performance blends carry the same distinguishing features in more well known non-iron fabrics - without the harmful skin allergen issues that are just now coming to light.
If for any reason (regardless of fault) there was a measurement error on the first shirt of your first order, we'll take care of it. No questions asked.
We simply ask that you ship it to our facility and we'll either make the necessary changes for an alteration at no cost or (if the shirt can't be repaired) extend a remake code for your next order (excludes shipping and any applied discounts -- if applicable).
For reasons that fall outside of this, we'll personally work with you via one of our style consultants to achieve the fit and style you originally wanted.
